R2UC Art Trail
We have been engaged by Balfour Beatty to create an art trail along the Roseburn to Union Canal Active Travel Path, in consultation with Edinburgh City Council, and with match-funding from the Sustrans Art Roots Fund. We have completed a phase of community engagement, and are now in the process of commissioning two murals, a mosaic and a sculpture for the site.

Engaging with the community
We have completed three rounds of community engagement:
1. On-site interviews and collection of ideas and themes.
2. Community feedback on artist designs, which informed our decisions behind the two large mural commissions.
3. Engagement with local schools and businesses to bring together the site and create the backgrounds for the artworks.
Welcome
to Our Site
1. Sauchiebank Gardens Mural - mural, currently under community voiting between three professional artist designs.
2. Re-Cycle Sculpture - fluid form bench made from bike frames and seats. Space for interaction or rest.
3.. Dalry Road Mosaic - designed and installed by the community.
4. Garvalds abstract basketball court - local charity, abstract pattern to the concrete of the basketball court.
5. Dalry Community Park Mural- mural, currently under community voiting between three professional artist designs.

Local history and local ideas
Smaller interventions will be scattered across the site: welly boots to reflect the history of the area, and rain paint for when the weather turns door.

- welly boot-prints by Hannah Ayre, a local
artist we are planning on commissioning.
